Those velvet, studded blister-makers

 

I look painfully grumpy in this photo - I apologise. Most days are 'throw-anything-on-and-see-what-happens' days, but today was particularly bad. I got dressed in approximately 60.5 seconds and ran out of the house to catch the bus that I was destined to miss. These H&M bootleg jeans are absolute life savers! They are nice and baggy for when you're feeling sluggish, and the rolled up look just says "I care about what I look like, but not that much".

After school, there was a themed sixth form social. With only one night to prepare a 'Best of British' outfit, I settled for my brother's England shirt and a simple skaterskirt-heel combo. Of course I had to add frilly socks.

The Vintage Rollerskater

Hey! This jumper is handmade, and I found it in a sleepy vintage store up in Yorkshire last year. I think it was Yorkshire...

The skirt is just a little button-up number from Topshop, and the flats are from New Look:)

I've noticed that in every picture, my rollerskates do a cheeky photo-bomb.... They are actually from my local car-boot sale, and they are a genuine 80's product! With the snowy weather and lack of flat ground, it's been difficult taking them out for a spin! I think I need to take my long overdue trip to Brighton, so I can skate leisurely with the locals. Maybe I could join a skating group; we could glide off into the sunset together. That would be pretty cool. It seems that where I live is the only place in England that it is socially unacceptable to rollerskate in 80's attire. Around here, it's go BMX or go home...

Anyway, I'm rambling now.

The Clash

 

 Hey! I played around with my blog theme a bit, so hopefully it's looking better:)

Now, on to today's outfit:
I was feeling rather adventurous this morning, so decided to do a 'print clash'. This vintage striped silk shirt has the ability to make any outfit more fun, and I paired it with some Matalan trousers. I was gobsmacked when my father came home with them, as Matalan is not only a shop that I rarely enter, but it is a shop that I fail to associate with loud, vibrant pieces. Tailored for older women, these trousers are an uncomfortable fit on me from hip to toe. They are supposed to look like annachoice's chic pair (don't you just love her floral-leopard clash?!), but unfortunately this is not the case. Thus, I hitched the trousers up to make them high-waisted and added a belt, and with a handmedown vest from my dad and a Forever21 fountain blazer, the outfit was complete!

With the studded docks, the look is very grunge, and if I hadn't been going to school, I would have topped off the look with a bowler hat and mini leather rucksack! Maybe next time..

Next Sale bargain

 Hi there!

Here is what I wore today:)
This jumper dress is just a top that is many sizes above mine that I picked up in the Next sale. It seems the only time I shop in Next is during the Christmas season - but the bargains you can find are amazing!

This is just a really simple outfit that would work just as well with some thick tights and woolly socks. Unfortunately I could find neither of these when I was getting ready.

90's Dotty Perks

This was my look today! This evening my stomach allowed me to go out and have a meal in celebration of my friend's birthday. I thought this an appropriate occasion to whip out the velvet!

 This velvet skater dress is from Dorothy Perkins..... in the 90's! My mum had it stashed away, and kindly opted to donate it to me (you see, I had been begging her to by me an American Apparel one for weeks). To make the look more casual, I paired it with a simple denim jacket and my staple creepers. I wore this floral Aldo bag because frankly, I feel plain without some sort of print..

Ruggers

 I'd like to thank my army of white blood cells for finally making advances on whatever was making me ill. Today I wore my new South Africa rugby shirt; getting ready for Six Nations tomorrow! I know SA isn't one of the Six Nations, but this is the only rugby shirt I own..

The specs of green and turquoise in this corduroy H&M skirt really compliment the shirt, and I paired it with my River Island flatforms to give it some edge.

Goblin Market

 

Today I wore this new vintage dress for the first time. There is an incredible vintage store near the Emirates Stadium in London - I dare say, it is hipster heaven. This dress was one of many that hung seductively on the rails, begging me to buy.

 

 

 

 

 

Live life to the point of tears

 These trousers just scream, "hey! Look at me! Look here!"

 The Peter Pan collar compliments the colours on the trousers nicely, and I like that it adds a bit more femininity to the look. The hat... well... the hat doesn't 'match', but I like how it looks :P xx

 

 

The art of impracticality

It's snowing outside - not that you could tell from what I'm wearing. I tend to ignore the ice on the ground, and dress according to how I feel rather than the weather. This is such a simple outfit! The dress is a little short, so this isn't something I'd class as casual, but its just something easy when you're in a rush. The lace collar has a really cute pearl fastening, and underneath I'm wearing a black bralet.

The pastel colours on the headband really compliment the cream and mustard of the dress, and when contrasted with a purple lip and black tights, the look becomes suitable for an evening occasion.

The Bishop sleeve is a love of mine. It just makes the dress a bit more interesting and elegant. Besides, who doesn't want floaty sleeves?

It seems that although the weather is gallantly slaying every living thing with snow, it is unable to affect my wardrobe. With flowers in my hair, and a less-than-adequate pair of Creepers for snow-trudging, I am clearly dressed for summer. But fear not! I did wear my staple H&M coat outside!

I'm sorry snow, you haven't been able to force me into wearing practical clothing. Maybe next time.

Reunited and it feels so good

We all have those items in our wardrobe that we haven't worn in ages and that we're not entirely sure why we bought. I must shamefully admit that this skirt hasn't been worn for about a year. It's a wonder this skirt has survived so long. Somehow, it has avoided the dreaded black bag entitled: 'to charity shop'. It's like it's been waiting for me to pick it up and give it some attention... well, today I did.

Jump... Jump... Jump...

 

 I'm surprised I neglected this skirt for so long. The lace roses are really cute over the silk underskirt, and it has got just the right amount of volume to make it nice and floaty.

Now, this bangle was a Christmas gift from a friend. It's from Forever21 and I just love the colours! As you can see, jewellery isn't something I drool over - but I like to make exceptions!

 

 

The cardigan is also from Forever21's winter range. The length was really awkward next to the skirt, so I just tied it up around the waist! Fin!

"I ain' no potato sack"

 This is today's look!

This oversized jumper-dress is such an easy outfit when I'm in a rush. My awkward pose makes the dress appear shorter than it actually is - it's really not this short! The dash of pink and sequins really makes this look fun and takes away that dreaded possibility of looking frumpy. I've come across some people that are terrified of 'the oversized dress' because they fear they will look like a walking potato sack. I assure anybody that fears this - as long as there is a focal point on the dress (this may be an image or contrasting colour), you will never look like a packet of Ready Salted Walkers.

This cute little bag was a present from some friends last summer. The design is so simple that it goes with anything, and the floral cut-outs makes it a very pretty accessory. As you can see, I'm wearing a dark lip. This is because I don't want to distract from the colourful focal point of the dress - remember, we don't want to look like potato sacks!

Help! Clueless blogger here!

On December 31st 2012 around midday I was frantically scribbling down that all-too-familiar list of New Year's resolutions. On the whole, they were pretty reasonable; start yoga classes, keep well organised, blog my outfit everyday- wait, WHAT?

It seems that I seriously underestimated the dedication needed to run a successful blog. I challenged myself to post an outfit for every day of 2013, but have now come to realise that once you fall behind it's pretty hard to get back. Please, please somebody advise me. Preferably with a manual: 'Blogging for Dummies' or 'Blogging for Clueless Teens'.

I also considered doing a 'designer of the day' post (you see, my phone and laptop are getting clogged with photos of fashion shows I can pretend I attended and lists of designers I can pretend I've met).
Maybe I'll try 'designer of the WEEK' - that's more realistic.

 I also have a Lookbook, Tumblr and Instagram - which of these should I be posting daily on?! I think it's safe to say I'm not doing so well with my resolutions. And I still haven't started that yoga class.

I'd love to receive any advice from you guys - and if any of you post daily outfits, how do you manage it?? (I should probably let you know that I'm an A-Level student and can't spend as long as I'd like to on here)



Oh - here is what I wore today!

This is just a simple panelled dress that I picked up in Birmingham last year. On top of it is a denim skirt from House of Fraser that was in the sale at the incomprehensible price of £5! I absolutely love the buttons on this skirt; they remind me of fuzzy grandma cardigans in sleepy charity shops.

 

Now who remembers Cheryl telling us to fight for love? Like we could forget.

Her music video marked the beginning of the military craze, and like a good little sheep I bought my share of military style clothing. From Camden Market, this jacket really stood out. The detailed embroidery distinguished it from many other jackets, and makes it suitable to wear both during the day and with eveningwear. We like versatility.

 

We gotta fight, fight, fight, fight, fight for this love
