The Principal Principle - turning 18

So, last weekend something crazy happened. I turned 18. Now, to me, 18 marks the beginning of the end. Just a stone-throw a way from 20, which is halfway to 40 - the age at which a midlife crisis is inevitable. I can't be dealing with a midlife crisis.

I know what you're thinking: "drama queen much!"
Yeah. I am unnecessarily dramatic, childish and foolish. Heck. I'm 18! I'm supposed to be! I'm supposed to be scared of getting older, because as the number gets higher, the skirt hem gets lower, the coffee gets stronger and the mornings get harder. That's what happens in movies, anyway. Fickle as it sounds, I feel as though my youth is my redeeming characteristic amongst the platter of annoying habits that I've been cursed with. Obviously, turning 18 hasn't really  changed anything, but it's the principle. I'm aging. Every year I tell somebody my age, I will be perceived differently. Expectations increase. Am I ready to live up to them?
I'm still young.

To commiserate celebrate my birthday, I thought I'd host a little tea party. This is the furthest away from the average 18th celebration in Britain. My garden was transformed (well, hardly) with pennant banners, cushioned chairs and outdoor candles. There were so many cupcakes. So. Many. Cupcakes. My mother kindly made these as well as biscuits and macaroons, and they looked fantastic on the various stands and platters that were on the table. Everything was pretty, floral , polka-dotted and sweet. Regrettably, I didn't take may photos of the party before it started. After about an hour, approximately 60% of the marshmallows were on the floor. Oh well. It was a lovely night, and I'm lucky to have such wonderful friends.

My birthday was the debut of an African print Topshop Pini. I'll just remind you that I wrote a blog post when I purchased it in January. This dress had been sitting in my wardrobe, unworn for almost exactly 6 months. That's shameful. I suppose it serves me right for  buying too many dresses in Topshop sales. As you can see, the prom flower crown is back, and I threw on this Forever21 blazer over the top!

So there you have it. HA, I'm a legal adult!

Very quickly, I'd like to draw your attention to the new additions to my blog! I've now got cute little buttons on my sidebar hehe

  8. Happy belated birthday! And you my dear, shouldn't worry about getting older...you have quite a while before that feeling should set in. And even if it does, when you get to my age...JayZ says it best: 30 is the new 20! So live it up, enjoy life, be young and careless and free.

That dress with the red blazer is fantastic!
