Wait for it

In case it was not already made apparent, I really enjoy buying clothes. Generally I wear everything I buy and I have not yet made a purchase I regret. However, there is always one item that I buy and have nowhere to actually wear. Everybody does it. That little sparkly number? Those unreasonably high stilettos? Yes, you know the type. That one item that you bought on impulse that  lives deep within your wardrobe, taunting you about the fact that you have no calendar-pencilled event to wear it to. It's frustrating, isn't it.

 

I was in this predicament after the purchase of a printed midi pencil skirt from Internacionale . I had been drooling over printed midis for a while before then, so jumped on the opportunity to buy one from the sale. And they had it in my size. Unfortunately, I do not posses the ability to think before I buy, and next thing you know I have a beautiful skirt that is neither appropriate for school nor the family outings that had been planned that month. Oops.

 

Instead of returning it like a sensible money-conscious student should, I kept hold of it in the hope that a formal event would arise and save the day. Obviously, it had to be formal, but it couldn't be an event that required excessive movement. That ruled out a party. At the age of 17, formal events that don't involve dancing are fairly rare. Oops x2.

 

Thankfully, my friend decided to have a meal out at a beautiful oriental restaurant for her birthday. Alas, I had an appropriate event to wear the skirt to! The moral of the story, boys and girls: keep the clothes you never wear, just in case you get invited to an event that involves sweet and sour sauce, duck and the mishandling of chopsticks.
