Sweet Smellin' Pint-Sized Something

It's Monday, so you know what that means: an Of The Week post! This week, I've decided to do
Products OTW

This post will be a mishmash review of some small birthday favourites and Soap and Glory products that I bought! If you regularly read my blog, you'll have noticed that I'm not much of a beauty blogger. I tend to stay comfortably in the realm of fashion blogging, but today I thought I'd stretch my wings a bit and soar into the world of beauty products. Here it goes!

Vintage Collar
Handmade Journal

It's no secret that I am a sucker for collars. Shirt collars, Peter Pan collars, studded collars, you name it, I'll wear it. Thus, I was delighted when my friend bought me this lovely vintage-style collar. The intricate detailing is a sweet touch, and instantly makes any outfit lovely and girly. Generally, I wear this with simple outfits (which is difficult for me), as I don't want to retract from such a statement collar. A simple knit in a neutral colour such as cream with an A-line skirt and loafers would be perfect paired with this adorable collar. What do you think?

Along with collars, I also have a bit of a thing for journals. I wouldn't call it an obsession, just a strong (verging on unhealthy) attachment. I tend to have at least three spare journals at any given moment. One of my friends is a DIY goddess, and was kind enough to make me this leather bound one! It's all handmade with a little birthday message inside, which I think is unbearably sweet, and I cannot wait to start scrawling all over this journal! By 'scrawling', I mean neatly and sophisticatedly writing.

I received this little colour tattoo and I cannot emphasise enough how much I love it! Although described as a gel eye shadow, it has a creamy consistency, making it particularly versatile in terms of pigmentation. For example, for a bold gold colour, gently dabbing it onto the eyelid works perfectly, and for a subtle shimmer, simple drag it across. I often just use it on the inner corners of my eyes as a highlighter - you'd be surprised how much that simple trick makes a difference if you wear glasses!

Now, the final favourite of my pocket-size presents: this hand cream! I love this stuff! Adore it! I carry it around everywhere! I'm a victim of sensitive skin, so hand gels in public toilets (yuck) often leave my skin dry and irritated - thus, I usually have with me a handy pot of Nivea cream. However, when my friend bought me this mini tube, the Nivea was firmly rejected, neglected and replaced by it! This cream leaves my hands silky, but with no oily residue, and the smell is just divine. There is no doubt that I will try more of their products!

It was while searching for more Heathecote&Ivory products that I suddenly remembered a similar brand. Soap and Glory. After being recommended their products a stupid amount of times, I decided to try them out for myself.

Much to my delight, Boots were doing a 3for2 offer on S&G products, so I jumped on that! I must admit, however, that I was a little apprehensive about spending money on products I was merely trialling, so buying the mini versions was a convenient and cheap alternative - with all three products coming to the grand total of just £5.

I chose to buy the shower gel because what better product to try? Taking the packaging and outstanding reviews into consideration, it was a given that this stuff would smell amazing. It is far too often the case with scented products that you have to compromise on the quality for the smell. However, I can proudly say that this shower gel is a beautiful exception. It is both cleansing and moisturising, which is a rarity amongst beauty products.

I was actually in need of a body scrub, so this purchase was highly convenient. Again, it smells heavenly, and the scent is long-lasting, but I'm afraid that's the only celestial thing about it. I'd say it was a standard body buffer - nothing surpassing the quality of any other household brand. It works and it smells nice - what more can I say?

The final product was this hand cream! I wanted to compare this with the lovely Heathcote&Ivory one (hand cream rivalry, grrr). I'll start by saying that this tube is considerably bigger than the H&I one, which is certainly a positive. Yet again, this product smells amazing, but although it is lovely and moisturising, it does leave my hands a teeny bit oily. But just a teeny bit! For that reason, I must say I prefer the H&I product, but I'd still recommend all of he above Soap&Glory purchases! Overall, I'm very pleased with the products, and cant wait to buy the 'big girl' versions ready for uni!

Well, there you have it; some presents, some products and some progress!

Here, enjoy this vaguely relevant picture of my milkshake.

Have a nice day!
